September 13th Program:
Coexisting with Bears
Volunteers with the Appalachian Bear Center in Townsend, TN will present a program entitled "You and Me - Coexisting with Bears" at our regular September meeting. They address the topic of coexistence for those who live in bear country. The program begins with some general information about bears and then discusses humans in bear habitat and what we must do to keep the bears as well as ourselves safe. They emphasize the mistakes that people often make, and the problems that are created. They also dispel some common misconceptions about the danger of encountering a bear and offer advice for bear encounters, whether in your yard or in the woods. We hope to see you at the Rec Center on Monday, September 13 at 7:00 p.m for refreshments followed by the program beginning at 7:30.
